By using the Butterfly Effect App, you can share your challenges anonymously and connect with people who have encountered similar situations and are willing to assist you in overcoming them. We believe that the strongest bonds are formed when people collaborate to conquer life’s challenges, and we hope that Butterfly Effect will enable you not only to seek assistance but also to give back and support others. This reciprocal process generates a Butterfly Effect that can enhance the world and the quality of our lives one person at a time.
Registration information:
When you download the ButterflyEffect app and create an account (“Account”), we may gather specific information about you (“Registration Information”), including:
• Name
• Username
• Email address
• Date of Birth
• Mobile number
• Gender
• Location
Once you have registered, you can modify and review this information anytime by logging in to ButterflyEffect, except for your location and date of birth (if you have given the app access to your device location in settings, your location will update automatically). It is your responsibility to ensure that your account details remain up-to-date. Please update your phone number in your account if it changes.
The information we collect assists us in improving the app and validating our users, while prohibiting bots. Registration Information, with the exception of our username, will not be visible to other users who view your profile page.
For California residents who use our services, the data we collect falls within the following categories of “personal information” as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): A. Identifiers, such as name and location;
B. Personal information, as defined in the California customer records law, such as contact information (including email and telephone number) and financial details;
C. Characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law (if you choose to provide them), such as age, gender identity;

F. Internet or network activity information, such as browsing history and interactions with our Sites and App;

Profile information:
We advise and urge all our members to exercise caution when revealing personal details about themselves. It is also not advisable to include email addresses, URLs, instant messaging handles, phone numbers, full names or addresses, credit card details, national identity numbers, driver’s license details, and other sensitive information that can be exploited or misused in your profile or chat messages or posts to others. When you share personal information about yourself or communicate with other users via the messaging function, you do so at your own risk.
Profile Verification Information (Including Biometric Information):
For your safety and to enhance your user experience, ButterflyEffect requires all users to verify their accounts. This may entail providing your phone number, and in some cases, undergoing photo verification. We do this to ensure that you are not a robot and to prevent the creation of fake ButterflyEffect accounts, which can be exploited for malicious activities and cybercrime, thereby jeopardising the integrity of our platform and ruining the experience for all users. Verification may also be necessary to prevent fraud. Additionally, you have the option to voluntarily verify your photo to earn the “verified” badge on your profile.
Purchases Information:
In the event that you choose to purchase any of our premium services on ButterflyEffect, we will securely process your payment information and retain it for fraud prevention and tax/audit purposes. To ensure that fraudulent payment transactions are not processed, ButterflyEffect employs automated decision-making as part of its anti-fraud procedures. Our systems monitor payment transactions for suspicious activity that may indicate a breach of our Terms and Conditions of Use. If a transaction satisfies certain criteria that suggest a violation of our Terms and Conditions of Use and is likely to be fraudulent, it may be automatically blocked. If your transaction is blocked, you will be notified, and you can reach out to ButterflyEffect to dispute the decision.
Geolocation Information:
If you have granted ButterflyEffect access to your device’s location in your settings, we will collect information about your longitude and latitude, as well as WiFi access points, when you use your mobile. We may also save your device’s coordinates to offer you specific features. This data allows us to identify your physical location and personalize the app, making it easier for you to interact with other users. It also enables us to display general location information to users viewing your profile and present you with the profiles of users who are nearby. If you have given ButterflyEffect access to your location but wish to revoke it, you can do so via the following steps: For iPhone users: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > ButterflyEffect
Device Information:
When you use the ButterflyEffect app, we may gather information about your device, including the unique device identifier, device model, and operating system, for various purposes stated in this policy. Furthermore, with your permission, the app may access your device’s address book only to allow you to add someone to your contacts.
Links:
ButterflyEffect may monitor your interactions with links provided on the app, including third-party services, by redirecting clicks or through other methods. We may share collective click statistics, such as the number of clicks on a specific link.
ButterflyEffect Success Stories, Surveys, and other Contributions:
Occasionally, we conduct research surveys, and we may reach out to you to ask if you would like to participate. We may also contact you to inquire if you would like to give feedback, a testimonial, or participate in marketing campaigns. For instance, if you inform us that you have found a match on the app, we may contact you to see if you would be interested in appearing in ButterflyEffect advertising. These surveys and marketing campaigns are voluntary, and we will provide additional information when we contact you. USE OF YOUR INFORMATION.
Our main goal is to ensure your experience on ButterflyEffect is enjoyable and safe! To achieve this, we may use your registration and other information to:

• Contact you with information about the App (such as updates and new features)
• Personalize the App/Sites and the content we deliver to you
• Conduct research and analytics on how you use and interact with the App
• Test new technologies and processes to enhance and improve the App
• Resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, and enforce our Terms & Conditions
• Investigate fraud, protect our legal rights, and enforce our Terms & Conditions
• Send you information about promotions and offers available (such as types of goods/services/offers) through direct marketing or other communication methods, only if you have given us your consent during the Account creating process or via Settings in the App. You can withdraw from marketing at any time via Settings in the App or by using the opt-out mechanisms and links provided in each message.
• Protect our Users and third parties from harm.
Moderation Practices:
At ButterflyEffect, we employ both automated systems and a team of moderators to monitor and review user accounts, including messages to detect content that violates our Terms and Conditions of Use. If an account or message is found to breach our terms, we may issue a warning and restrict or block the user’s access. If you believe the decision was made in error, you can contact ButterflyEffect to appeal the decision. Please note that any content posted on our platform that is deemed inconsistent with our Terms and Conditions of Use may result in termination or restriction of access to your Account.
